Cheek (Malar) Implants
Cheek augmentationis acosmetic surgical procedure that is intended to emphasize the cheeks on a person’s face.
To augment the cheeks we can place an implant that is inert and made of polyethylene from an approach limited to the oral cavity leaving no incisions necessary on the outer face. An alternative is the use of semi-permanent fillers injected under local anesthetic.
The result is more projection to the cheekbones, providing a “higher” contour to the side of the face and augmentation of the midface depending on one’s particular needs.
Many times this procedure is performed in combination with a chin advancement or skin resurfacing technique.
We perform these procedures in our private operating room.
Detailed pre and postoperative instructions will be discussed in your initial consultation.
